About the project

The project on The Vital City sets out to explore the relevance of vitalist perspectives for understanding cities and urban cultures.

The first part of the project consists of a book publication, co-written with prof. John Pløger (University of Agder), which will be published winter 2014/2015 (Scandinavian Academic Press). The book will contain introductory texts on vitalist thinking of both ‘classical’ and neo-vitalist kinds, as well as sections in which contemporary urban developments and conditions are discussed in the framework of vitalist thinking. Related perspectives of assemblage and affective urbanism will also be included.
